Suspended bridge of the Ferriere
It was built between 1920 and 1922 by engineer Vincenzo Douglas Scotti, descendant of an old Scottish family and director of the mill of Mammiano Basso of the Italian Metallurgical Society (SMI, now Europa Metalli) of Campo Tizzoro. The work aroused considerable admiration from the point of view of engineering technique and the designer also received congratulations from abroad. The bridge is presented with steel cables anchored with massive chains on concrete bases and railways with metal nets. About 35 meters high at its highest point and 212.4 meters long, it is one of the longest suspended pedestrian bridges in the world.
The reasons that led to its construction are related to the events of the iron industry. In fact, it allowed the Popiglio workers to shorten the long route to get to the ironworks of the opposite valley, also avoiding to cross the creek. Today it is frequented tourist destination and object of fun for the considerable height on the stream, for the slight oscillations and for the catwalk, less than a meter wide and made of an iron grid, which gives the impression of "being suspended in the void. ".

Beatrice of Pian degli Ontani , is the best known improvising poet of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Illiterate but endowed with an innate poetic nature and an equally relevant creative vein, she spends her life between two small villages of the Pistoia mountains, the Cornio and Pian degli Ontani.
